Coir 60/40 does not compress like soil. While retaining air pockets it allows for air movements throughout the substrate. The chips within the 60/40 are a high level of consistency and quality, pest and disease free as they are thoroughly rinsed and pH stabilised. Coco chips have a high capacity for liquid retention and high friability, ensuring nutrients remain present and available to the plant root systems. Additionally, larger chip sizes increase aeration and drainage making it more resistant to breakdown promoting longevity.

My use of 60/40

I have used this Company for many years now and have never had a problem with their products always first class their prices are best in the marketplace. I use their Coir 60/40 Blend (Peat/Chip) in my potting mix were here in Australia our potting mediums must be able to withstand our summer conditions. For many years now I mix 50/50, Coir 60/40 Blend (Peat/Chip) / Potting medium this alone will give you great water retention while excellent aeration and nutrients holding capacity in the summer months which means less water required and less required in winter while excellent root development great for plants in small or very large pots including bonsai starters. If you want to take things up a level, the mix I use on my maples, conifers, camellias, azaleas etc, goes as 50/50, Coir 60/40 Blend (Peat/Chip) / Potting medium, 1.25kg of zeolite with every 50 Litre, 1.25kg of course sand with every 50 Litre, fertilize regularly. One of the major benefits of the Coir 60/40 Blend is the fine feeder roots it develops in the potting medium which means a healthy plant and greater growth rate.
