Soil Testing

Aussie Environmental can undertake a full soil analysis before the application of Hydromulch to ensure best outcomes are achieved. From these tests, we advise what key soil amendments are needed to reach the best outcome for the hydromulch application. Soil testing includes a site visit to take a sample, full detailed lab analysis and soil report.

Standard Hydromulch

Aussie Environmental can supply a Standard Seasonal Seed Hydromulch mix, included in this mix will be seasonal grass seeds, mulch, fertiliser and a tackifier. Other soil amendments and growth stimulants can be added depending on end result sought and site conditions. We recommend a soil test be undertaken to achieve best results.

Native Seed Hydromulch

Aussie Environmental can supply a Native Seed Mix Blend that is endemic to the area, included in this mix will be native grass seeds, fertiliser and a tackifier. Other soil amendments and growth stimulants can be added depending on end result sought and site conditions. We recommend a soil test be undertaken to achieve best results.

Soil Stabilisation

Aussie Environmental’s soil stabilisation provides superior erosion protection of hydromulched batters from weather events and severe soil loss. Aussie Environmental can design and install soil stabilisation solutions with our range of bio-degradable erosion control blankets and hydromulching services. Providing quality installation of these products for outstanding results.

Benefits of using Aussie Environmental

Only high quality wood blends used. No blending of lower quality mixes such as paper and sugar cane blends.

We provide 4×4 off-road capabilities and access to hard to reach sites with our four wheel drive trucks.

Aussie Environmental are a complete erosion control company, providing solutions from the initial design phase to implementation and maintenance.

Superior Mulch Blend

We use Hydro Mulch® 1000 with TriFlo™ as our mulch medium with benefits such as:

• Delivers up to 50% more water-holding capacity than atmospherically refined wood mulches.
• Creates an interlocking matrix for better erosion control protection and allows for improved oxygen transfer.
• Creates a near perfect environment for faster germination.

Hydromulching, hydroseeding or spray grass is a cost effective method to laying turf or hand seeding. It’s the mechanical application of seed, mulch, fertiliser, tackifier (sticking agent) and water to form a wet mixture called a slurry. These ingredients are combined and then pumped onto exposed soil to achieve grass coverage.

Aussie Environmental can tailor to suit any client’s application to achieve the best results, including various grass seed types, fertiliser and soil amendments. Australian native seed hydromulch blends are also available as a cost effective form of native revegetation.

Are You Looking For Hydromulching In Brisbane?

Rebuilding an eroded, recently developed or disturbed piece of land can be a costly and time-consuming task. There are assessments to be made regarding how the soil is best reseeded and how it should be maintained in the future. If the work is done without careful planning and understanding the soil and vegetation can be very quickly undermined once more, meaning the landowner must restart the process. If you are looking for an economic, permanent solution to quick revegetation you should consider hydromulching in QLD.

Based in Yandina on the Sunshine Coast, Aussie Environmental offers hydromulching in Brisbane. For over a decade now we’ve offered great environmental products and solutions to gardeners, contractors, and government departments all across Australia. We’re proud to offer exceptional customer service and efficient, affordable work when it comes to environmental regeneration.

The Process Of Hydroseeding In Brisbane

The method and makeup of our hydromulching service is very much dependent on your particular property and the seeding mix you’re after. Essentially, it relies on the application of a slurry made from seed, wood fibre mulch, fertiliser and sticking agent which results in quick germination, growth. It can be especially useful for controlling erosion on slopes or inaccessible patches of land.

An important part of the process is the analysis and optimisation of the soil and mulch. This includes:

  • Soil Testing – so we can fully understand what is achievable on your property.
  • Standard Hydromulch – which we can modify and amend with growth stimulants.
  • Native Hydromulch – if you are looking to rewild an area with endemic grass species
  • Soil Stabilisation – for protection against severe weather damage or soil loss.

Once we’ve made our assessments of what can be achieved with your soil we can begin the application to best achieve grass coverage. We load the hydromulch mix into our specialised truck tanks and then our technicians apply it using either a handheld hose or a tower gun to cover the area uniformly.

What are the Benefits Of Hydromulching & Hydroseeding?

If you’re considering hydromulching in Queensland, then it’s important to understand why we use this process and how it benefits you and the environment. Aussie Environmental is the premium supplier of hydroseeding and hydromulching in Brisbane and these are just some of the benefits you’ll encounter when using our services:

  • Cost: The cost saving on hydroseeding and hydromulching for large areas of land is substantial when you compare it to the price of material, installation and labour costs that come with traditional lawn laying and vegetation planting processes. For large areas, hydroseeding and hydromulching can cost around 50-70% less than laying turf. The process itself is incredibly quick too and large portions of land can be done in less than two hours depending on the landscape.
  • Vegetation quality: At Aussie Environmental, we only use superior quality seeds in our hydromulching mix, and we can guarantee that with the right care, it will look healthier and last longer than hand seeding vegetation or sodding. The roots of seedlings develop deeper in the ground and don’t have to go through the shock of transferring from one soil to the other. Seeds are protected by mulch and more resistant to weather and hold their moisture longer; they also tend to have a faster germination period. Weeds are often a problem when hand seeding but won’t be encountered during hydromulching and you can choose between our vegetation customisation packages to ensure you get the grass or plants that you desire.
  • Better coverage: Vegetation that has been hydromulched is often more consistent than those done by hand. There are also no unsightly seams that you usually get when sodding. Your area will be evenly covered and even the most remote, difficult to reach areas, such as slopes, will be carpeted in beautiful vegetation. This even spread and strong survival rate makes hydroseeding ideal for erosion control on roadsides and for sports fields or golf courses.
  • Water-wise: Hydromulch vegetation can hold up to ten times its own weight in water. The fibre mulch and tackifiers help the seeds to tap their roots deep into the earth and retain their moisture. This also means that it’s more drought-tolerant than usual lawns or grasses and it also takes a lot less water to thrive.
  • Versatility: There really is no end to the areas where hydromulching can be used, from residential and commercial lawns to erosion control, soil stabilisation, wildfire habitat repair, national parks, landfills and everything else in between. We can customise the seeds you want in your hydromulch mix whether that’s a lawn or native grass species.
  • Speed: Don’t expect to have the instant lawn effect that you get from sodding, as it takes some time for the vegetation to germinate. However, the process itself is incredibly quick and doesn’t require additional labour. Most hydroseeded vegetation will be fully grown in about three to four weeks.

What Are The Steps When Hydromulching?

Step 1

Ground / Soil Preparation
For grass to grow well it is recommended to have a minimum of 100mm of good topsoil with minimal compaction for good root establishment and development.

Step 2

Soil & Ph test / Soil Ameliorant
A soil and Ph test should always be carried out prior to hydromulching as any imbalance will adversely affect the plants development. Once this is done a soil ameliorant may need to be applied to correct this imbalance.

Step 3

Application Of Hydromulch Mix
Once all elements of the hydromulch are thoroughly mixed in our tank we are ready to start the hydromulching application. Using the hand held hose or tower gun the mix should uniformly cover the prepared area.

Step 4

Watering / Maintenance
A newly seeded area should be kept moist but NOT SATURATED, until the seeds begin to grow. After the seeds have germinated and have begun to establish a root system, reduce the frequency of watering. As you reduce the watering frequency you should also increase the amount of water applied each time. The weather i.e. rain events, hot temperatures and drying winds should always be considered in your watering régime.
